Bitesized tidbits for building Modern (Metro) apps.
The Cimbalino toolkit is fast becoming a big favourite of mine and is starting to be used in more and more apps that I’m building. In it, you’ll find a huge amount of useful tools for building Windows Phone apps, from converters, to behaviours, to controls, to services. It’s a monster! I’m going to try and do a number of posts detailing certain parts of the toolkit and thought I’d start with Services.
When Windows Phone first came out, setting custom themes was easy. Take a copy of ThemeResources from ‘c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows Phone\v7.1\Design\’ and swap the colours out with the theme colours you wanted. This changed when the 7.1 SDK came out that meant the default colours weren’t overridden. So what then? Retemplate all the controls to use the colours you want? No.
